The Play-Full Families Project supports families in strengthening parent-child communication and relationships through playful approaches. The project is designed for families with primary school-aged children and accepts referrals from Harborough District primary school partners.
Each term, we deliver Family Workshops consisting of four, weekly, parent-only sessions. These sessions explore the challenges of parenting, the benefits of play, and how playful approaches can support wellbeing and strengthen family relationships.
Following the parent sessions, families are invited to attend four after-school sessions together in our welcoming annexe and garden play areas. These sessions encourage positive, playful interactions between parents and children in a supportive and enjoyable group environment.
Parents have shared:
“We have genuinely enjoyed the process so far. We have learnt a lot about ourselves and have seen tangible differences and improvements in our son’s behaviour.”
“Today’s session has helped me feel less alone and validated in hearing similar behaviours and responses of other families and also a chance to try out ‘play’ after a long time of not.”
The project also works in partnership with schools to promote the use of play and playful approaches to support children’s development and wellbeing. We provide free staff training, as well as termly opportunities for school staff to network, share ideas, and exchange best practice.
If your child attends a school within the Harborough District, or if you work in one and would like to get involved with the project, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
