How to get help from
Home-Start
All parents struggle at one time or another. For some, the challenges can be greater. You are not alone.
Support from Home-Start
To Home-Start every family is special and we respond to each family’s needs through different projects involving a combination of home-visiting support, groups and courses.
We support parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with their community.
If you have additional needs to access our services, we will aim to respond in a bespoke way.
How to get help
Sometimes family life can feel overwhelming but, if you can get the support you need when you need it then day-to-day life – and your children’s future – can be so much brighter. Home-Start is all about ‘one parent helping another’. As parents ourselves, we understand the need for practical help, friendship, advice and support especially when your children are young.
Once you’ve decided you would like to give us a try, one of our Family Coordinators will come and see you. Together you will talk through the difficulties you are facing and work out the service(s) that will best suit you and your family’s needs – whether it be a group, course, the help of a volunteer in your home – or a combination of our services.
Home-Start South Leicestershire groups
We are delighted that we have been able to restart our Groups – suspended during the coronavirus pandemic. Both our groups and family courses are being run within Covid-19 guidelines.

Testimonials
I couldn’t have asked for a better volunteer – she helped normalise things for me. She was my source of emotional support and gave me advice when I asked for it.
We got so much out of the group. It’s so welcoming, friendly. It was so helpful knowing I could just go and whatever was bothering me I could get help and support. I always knew I would feel better leaving than when I first arrive. It’s such a unique service you offer.
The support has been amazing not just for myself and my children but also for my partner. You have literally kept me sane. I have never been to any other group due to my daughter’s disabilities, you make us feel so welcome and I shall miss you all.
My son loves walking and chatting with our volunteer. She tells him what all the different birds are, they look at the ducks and play ball games together. He really connected with her and he doesn’t connect with many people.
Coming to the group has given me more confidence to go places with my baby. He is more sociable because he’s been able to meet and play with other babies.
